How Can I Order Prescription Glasses Online?

Prescription glasses have traditionally been a very expensive commodity to buy. Unfortunately, for many of us (myself included), it is necessary to buy them in order to correct our vision and thus lead normal lives. The good news is, however, that it is now very easy to order prescription glasses online. Let me explain how.

In the old days, we used to trudge off to the opticians and have our eyes tested. Typically our National Health Service or private health insurance scheme would pay for all or most of this cost. That part was never that expensive anyway. But once the eye test was complete, many of us need then to organise a pair of glasses for us to see properly again (or replace our existing pair because our prescription has changed slightly).

The next stage is that we have the task or trying on frames to find ones that suit us. For me, and I would imagine a lot of people, we find the frame we like, only to find out they are far too expensive for our budgets, because guess what, our lovely governments generally don't pick up the tab for our eye correction! Not stupid are they?

So, generally, we get priced out of the glasses that we really like because the frames are so expensive. Frustrating, especially when you can buy a nice pair of 'sunnies', for less than $50, and let's face it, the frame materials aren't too dissimilar!

However, our lovely new technology, computers, capitalism and manufacturing techniques are bringing down the barriers and cost of glasses all the time. This is fantastic news for people like me who have worn glasses most of my life and will carry on wearing them til the day I die.

There are now many retailers who are offering prescription glasses online. Not only that, they are much lower in price compared to the high street. Some offer as much as 75% off compared to what you would normally pay. And guess what? This means you could buy a pair of designer prescription glasses like Versace, Prada or Playboy for less than your normal non-brand name specs. How cool is that?

There are certain things you need to be wary of and I would recommend you follow my advice on this. Your eyes are precious to you, but if you do what I did, I believe you will be fine. So, here are several tips for you if you are interested in saving heaps of cash if you want to order prescription glasses online.

The first thing to do is visit your optician, get your eyes checked and ensure he gives you a prescription. This prescription is your key to saving dollars, and in most countries, it is law that he gives it to you.

Secondly, search online to find a retailer that not only sells low cost prescription glasses, but is also a registered optician or has been in the business for many years, so therefore knows what he is talking about. I repeat, find a retailer that is also a registered optician or manufacturer. This is not so easy to do, but I managed to find a couple and if you check my bio box below, I've already done the hard work for you in this regard.

Thirdly, take advantage of any special offers or promotion codes you can find. In these hard times, retailers are falling over themselves to make sales and so offer many incentives and special offers in order to make the sale. You could end up with free anti reflection lenses or a second pair of glasses at half price for example. Or something like that.

Fourthly, make sure that the retailer offers you a 100% money back guarantee in case you make a mistake.

By following these simple steps, you will ensure that you will be sure to save a small fortune on your prescription glasses, and to boot they will be every bit as good as the ones you would buy in your local optician for a fraction of the price!

What have you got to lose?

Pros and Cons of LASIK Eye Surgery

Every surgery has its' pros and cons and every patient should weigh these carefully before undergoing aid surgery. The question remains, will you find that the pros outweigh the cons?

Pro: Well this one is easy- no more glasses or contacts! Glasses are a pain to deal with and caring for contacts is a hassle. Without having to deal with these eyesight improvement methods, you can lead a more carefree lifestyle. Whether you want to play sports, join the military, or even just improve your appearance by discarding your glasses.

Con: Most insurance companies do not cover LASIK surgery. Though financing is sometimes possible, it is not guaranteed and interest rates can be exorbitant.

Pro: You won't have to pay for maintenance of contacts and glasses anymore or for yearly exams and replacing glasses. If you add these costs up over the long run, it far exceeds the initial cost of LASIK.

Cons: Smaller yearly costs may be more feasible for you than one large sum for the eye surgery.

Pro: While all surgeries have risks, LASIK eye surgery has one of the lower rates of complications. It rages from three to five percent and most of the complications associated with the surgery can be treated with one additional surgery. Recovery time is also minimal and successful surgeries only require one or two days of downtime.

Con: Complications are still off-putting and some people are unwilling to overlook those risks.

It is always best to ask your optometrist about any other questions you have. Most people who have LASIK surgery find that the benefits are more important than any potential risks. Your quality of life may improve significantly post surgery, but it is a decision that must be made by you and your doctor.

How to Prevent Pimples - Stop Pimples Before They Start

Why does a pimple always pop up right before a major party? It doesn't appear in an inconspicuous place such as the hairline either. No, the big, red bump has to surface smack in the middle of the cheek or the top of the nose.

Blame it on the last night's chocolate cheesecake or the ex-girlfriend who just wants to be friends, but the likely culprit is hormones.

The whole problem with acne usually begins around age 12 when hormones are changing.

As hormones change during puberty two things happen to the skin. Oil production increases and the pores become blocked by cells.

Most teens outgrow the problem when they reach adulthood.

Do you know how to prevent pimples? The best way to prevent and treat pimples is to keep the pores from becoming blocked. This means establishing and following an effective cleansing routine.

The face should be gently washed at least twice daily, in the morning and at night. After cleansing with a mild facial soap, pat dry using a clean towel.

To cut the oil, carefully rub on an astringent. Apply a blemish cream directly to the pimples. Tinted formulas are available and should be used as a cover-up instead of oil-based makeup. Makeup makes the problem worse because it tends to block the pores.

It normally takes about seven days for pimples to heal and disappear.

Many teens try to speed up the healing process by picking at pimples or putting on too much medication.

Picking and squeezing pimples can lead to deeper bacteria-infected sores and lifelong scarring.

An overdose of medication can cause irritation, redness and severe dryness.

Teens who suffer from large boil-like bumps or ruptured blemishes should consult a dermatologist for a prescription.

Gout Pain Relief - 4 Ways to Lower Uric Acid

Are you tired of waking up to terrible gout pain? If you are like most gout patients, the majority of your pain is caused by too much uric acid in your system. This acid crystallizes causing painful inflammation of your joints, the most famous being the big toe.

Here are 4 ways you can lower your levels and in the process reduce the likelihood of future attacks and also help your current pain.

1. Potassium

Eating foods rich in potassium such as raisins and bananas are an excellent way to help reduce levels of this acid. Potassium is able to lower uric acid by turning it into a liquid so that your kidneys are able to more efficiently excrete it thereby reducing your numbers. This will help prevent or lessen future attacks. By turning the crystals into a liquid form, this also helps break down the crystals which are causing the damage and inflammation to your joint area. This swelling and damage is what is the chief cause of your pain.

2. Avoid high purine foods

Uric acid is formed when the body processes purines. This is normal for the body to do this, however, the problem arises when you either eat too much of these purines or your body is unable to properly process the uric acid you produce. Therefore reducing the amount of high purine foods can help reduce your levels to a manageable number. Examples of high purine foods would be game meat and peanuts.

3. Vitamin C

Foods high in vitamin C are very helpful in reducing your overall levels. Studies show that this vitamin has the potential to reduce levels by up to 50% when consumed regularly. This fact definitely helps reduce the likelihood of future attacks and also helps to reduce their severity.

4. Eat Plenty of Fruits

Fruits are a great asset to reducing your levels of uric acid as well as providing gout pain relief. That is because most fruits contain the first three things on this list. Many fruits contain potassium, are low in purines, and contain plenty of vitamin C. Not only that, but a variety of fruits have other properties that can help reduce swelling, such as bromelain in pineapples and improve joint damage, such as niacin in avocados. So add plenty of fruits to your diet.
